LONDON SEVASHRAM SANGHA
The London Sevashram Sangha is a spiritual brotherhood of sannyasis (monks), selfless workers (volunteers) and members (devotees) dedicated to the service humanity.
It is a branch of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, an all-India and international organisation with its head office in Calcutta, India. The London Sevashram Sangha was founded in 1961 by Swami Purnandaji Maharaj.
It is a registered charity and is non-sectarian, non-communal and non-political in outlook.
We believe that in the light of modern conditions a continuing exposition and interpretation of the philosophy of the Hindu Scriptures such as Bhagavad Gita and Ramayan as a guide to a sublime way of life, would provide peace and spiritual tranquillity and a consciousness of Self. It would spread the ancient message of love towards all beings and create a harmonious atmosphere in our present disturbed world society.
This is also of relevance to the multicultural society in which we live. All those who are committed to advance this humanitarion/spiritual outlook in life are most welcome to share in the pursuit.
SWAMI PRANAVANANDA
Swami Pranavananda also known as Yugacharya Srimat Swami Pranavananda Ji Maharaj, (29 January 1896 – 8 February 1941) was the founder of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha.
He is remembered for his pioneering efforts to bring the modern Hindu society into the new age without compromising the essential values of ancient traditions of Hindu spirituality.
Swamiji was one of the greatest spiritual leaders of modern India. He is still revered very much for his message of universal love, compassion for all humanity and social reform without giving up the nationalist zeal, the love of mother land.
